When using VIenna Instruments Pro inside of Vienna Ensemble Pro, how many threads should VIPro be set to (it's defaulting to 4). CUrrently I have VEPro set to 4 threads for Multiprocessing. The DAW (Cubase 8) is also set to Multiprocessing. I had this isssue with Kontakt where some have said to just let the DAW or VEPro hadle the distribution of cores. However, I've found through years of experience that Kontakt Multiprocessing option is best left on (at least a few cores).I've also confirmed this with a Kontakt specialist from Native Instruments. Not sure how this would apply though to Vienna Instruments Pro?

Thread Count Settings?

It's going to depend on how many cores do you have (incl virtual) and what are you doing in Cubase. I leave Cubase nothing actually. I used to believe you had to leave it one or two out of my 16, but another user here advised that this wan't necessary. Caveat, I'm on Mac OS. I tend to have 4 instances/VI Frames in VEP and the ones with the greater hunger I give more to. If you're running instruments etc inside Cubase (I hardly do at all) you might have a different outlook.

I have multiprocessing enabled in both Cubase and Kontakt. At one time NI advised against it, leave that to the host. Typically believed to be a problem. I noticed one day that I hadn't turned it off, probably for the entire time I've used Kontakt 5. But I give all 16 to VE Pro in one cfg. or another. I don't know anything about it technically, but I have noticed where I had given a VI Frame a small share and it grew but I had forgetten I had that cfg. the performance REALLY suffered.
