  • Is MIR Pro Plug-In the same as Mirx?

I see both of these things referred to, but I'm confused about them.  I bought Mir Pro, but I don't see Mirx. And the manual says I have to download the plugin separately and install it, but I don't see a dowload link in my list.

MIRx is not a plugin, it will work only within Vienna Instruments player, with individual instruments or ensembles.

MIRx is "just" a collection of instrument-specific setups created within MIR Pro, exported in form of dedicated (pre-rendered) impulse responses and tailor-made EQ settings.

MIRx is like a ROM-based sample player: Built upon carefully optimised presets derived from MIR Pro, everything has to be used "as is". The sound quality isn't compromised in any way, but there is hardly anything that can be changed by the user.

In MIR Pro, on the other hand, you have full acces to all parameters of these presets, using the so-called "MIRx Mode":

There's an addendum available for MIR Pro's Manual which covers the possibilities of MIRx Mode in MIR Pro:

  • Thanks! VSL support is excellent, as usual.   :-)
