Multiple VEPro to one Mir?
-
I don't see how I can get many instruments, in multiple instances of VEPro, all to appear together on the same venue in MIr, so I can space them and balance them properly.
Am I missing something obvious?
Thanks,
Alan BelkinThere is at least 3 possible scenarios to do that. I think the 3rd one is simpler and more efficient.
[EDIT] I think the solution Dietz is refering is the option 2.
1- VEP multi-outs + Mir AU/VST plugin version
Don’t use MIR inside VEP.
Route your instruments to different outputs in VEP.
In your DAW, load the MIR plugin on those VEP channels.
The MIR application with the new stage will load after you instantiate the first MIR plugin.
Cons: MIR can’t guess what instrument is loaded. You have to rename every channels.
Can't split Dry Wet signal. Having many outputs routed to your DAW may be less efficient than mixing everything inside VEP.
2- VEP multi-outs + Audio Input Plugin
In the main VEP instance (where you have your stage), create as many Input channels you need.
On the other VEP instances, Route your instruments to different outputs. Load the VEP Audio Input plugin on those channels in your DAW.
Connect the Audio input plugin to the desired input of your MIR project.
Cons: The audio input plugin induce some extra latency. MIR can’t guess what instrument is loaded on the input channels.
3- Mir AU/VST Plugin inside VEP
There is a way to use the MIR plugin instead of the MIR built-in plugin inside VEP.
But you need to activate it first: Open VEP preferences under Vienna MIR Pro and untick Disable AU (or VST) MIR Plugins (On my Mac it’s called AU but I guest you have the same for VST on Windows).
Now you have to use the plugin wich is under VSL/Vienna MIR Pro, not the first one on top of the inserts menu.
The MIR plugin should be grey like any VST plugin, not red.
Now you can have any of the instruments of any VEP instance on the same stage!
I did’nt tested this scenario yet but it should work fine.
Pros: you don’t need to create many VEP outputs.
Cons: MIR can’t guess what instrument is loaded. Can't split Dry Wet signal.
I personnaly prefer having different MIR stages and minimizing the audio routing from VEP to the DAW. But any of those options should work.
