  • Sibelius 7.5 > Orchestral Cube Pro/Full > Performance Set Pro Compatibility

I have the chance to buy an older version of VSL and I am wondering if I will have the ability to utilize Sibelius 7.5 with it. I would be getting the VSL Orchestral Cube Full Pro Edition along with The Pro Performance Set. From what I understand I will need the new G-Player 2, which I will purchase as well. Will this combination work, and will there be any limitations if it does, or anything else I may want to consider before I decide to purchase all of this? I will be running all of this on: MacBook Pro Mid 2010 (7,1) Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz 16g RAM Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.5 Samsung 850 Pro 1TB SSD Trim Enabled

    Hello SpaceCarRider!

Before you buy any of our products second hand, please always get in touch with our sales team first. sales@vsl.co.at

The products you are writing about are quite old. There are no Sibelius sound sets for these products and the integration in Sibelius would be cumbersome. You will need the G-Player and change articulations manually with MIDI commands.

I would rather recommend getting Special Edition Volume 1 or one of the Special Edition bundles.

  • Thank you for your reply Andi!

I have made it clear to the seller that it will be necessary to request a license transfer if I decide to buy the Orchestral Cube/Performance Set, and I have also requested help from VSL, but I haven't heard anything back from them yet.

I am aware of the sound sets, and I understand that there isn't one for that particular software, but I'm pretty new to VSL and am unsure of the implications of the lack thereof.  I have definitely considered just buying the software new, but as you know the price for new equivalent software isn't the most accesible price.  I'd love to actually speak to someone over the phone about this so I can understand if getting the older software would be a better option for me at my budget, as it seems VSL has effectively wiped the internet of any trace of the older software, therefore so far I'm unable to make an intelligent decision on the matter.  But, as I said I haven't heard anything back from VSL.

I could be wrong, but I would assume that I'll have many more instruments and articulations with an older Orchestral Cube, rather than with merely 1 volume of the special edition or even a bundle, but again I can barely find any information on what the Orchestral Cube actually came with.

I read in another forum that there may be a discount coming up in the fall (https://vsl.co.at/community/posts/t39606-VE-PRO-5-Educational-Discound-for-Student#post237495), but it was unclear if that would be applicable for someone like me.  I'm not a student, but I do work in the recording department as part of the staff at the University of Texas, Butler School of Music.

    Hi SpaceCarRider,

First of all, thank you for your interest in Vienna Symphonic Library products!

We generally only allow license transfers with our current Vienna Instruments line of products, not with our legacy sample libraries like the Pro Edition Orchestral Cube / Performance Set. Other legacy products where a license transfer is not possible are our First Edition and Horizon Series products. So to clearly answer your question, we don't allow a license transfer in your case, sorry to say.

As Andreas already mentioned, I would also recommend taking a look at our Special Editions instead. The Special Edition Vol. 1 includes 28 instruments and ensembles already, we tried to keep the price tag as low as possible with the Special Editions - Vol. 1 starts at only EUR 295!

As for your other question, let's see if we can offer our student promotion again this autumn. Simply sign up as a user on our website and subscribe to our newsletter, and you'll get all information about upcoming offers via email. In any case to check if you're eligible for an eventual student promotion, you'd have to send us a confirmation or certificate from the University.

    Best,

    Stefan
