  • Solo Strings Problem!..

    Sorry for my English...

I bought "Vienna Symphonic Library Solo Strings I - Full Library" recently. But it's sound is like artificial sound. Is that because I don't have a soundcard. I use "Realtek High Definition Audio". Can someone help me?!

    With Respect...

  • Hi The Turkish Composer,

First thing you might want to do is to buy a separate sound card (USB ,Firewire or PCIe ). I also suggest using a reverb ( VSl Suite ) or you can choose MIR. I have both, and works well togheter. I think you can try them for a period of time. The sound is going to be dramatically improved, in a good way:)

      All best,

      B

    Thank you for your reply!

Is there any sound card that you can recommend?

    Hi The Turkish Composer

    Welcome here in the family.

"But it's sound is like artificial sound."

Could you give us an sound example? What are the artifacts in you eyes? What kind of speakers do you use?

Here is the pure sound you should have as well. Compare your sound with these examples.

And here is a short example (21. and 26.)when you are using even more articulations just with a bit of reverb from Cubase...

As Bogdan mentioned: A separate sound card would be better than the Realtec. But it should not the reason of a bad sound just with one instrument.

I wish you a lot of fun with your solo strings

  • Hi The Turkish Composer I am using RME Babyface and really happy with it. But there are a lot of alternatives. Protools, Focusrite, and so on. It really depends on your budget. However, do also check if your computer matches the VSL requirements. As Beat mentioned , for one instrument it should not be as bad as you described, even with your actual sound card. I am also sure you're going to love VSL strings , once you pass this minor Step! B
