  • loading MIR present into existing project

    hi

I want to change rooms (with your presets ) or load a room with presets, into an existig project but i cant.

when i go in the VE pro file Mir pro -> open - it doesn't let me open the new room .

any ideas how cani do it so i can check out the different presets ?

    thanks

    Assif

  • Venue Selection is done by means of the dedicated GUI element at the bottom of the Venue Map (... the long black bar which shows the name of the active Venue).

.... it's also shown as GUI-element #6 "Venue Selection" on page 5 of the MIR Pro Manual.

    Kind regards,

  • hi

    i know i canchange venues.

i am talking about a venue with a preset (mic placment , room eq ,exc..) you made a few and i want to check them.

now the only way is to load a preset venue  and add the instruments after.

am i missimg something ? is there another way.

on the file menu , when i go down to the vienna Mir pro -> open , it opens the window i go to the presets to load them (they are .vlframe64  type files .. your presets i cannot load them)

    any ideas ?

    thanks

  • Ah - I think I understand what you're after. :-)

You're using MIR Pro as a plug-in, right? Then you DAW takes over much of the file management options. As a plugin, each Icon on a MIR Pro Venue's stage is actually separate process. All of them share the same Main Window GUI, but that's about it. The first instance will initialize the channel count of MIR's audio engine (stereo, surround ...). Other than that, one instance of MIR Pro has no way to "know" about the others. You will have to save your templates the way your DAW "thinks". Only MIR Pro "engine settings" (Venue selection and output format) can be saved and recalled from the Main Window command menu.

VI Frames will work with VE Pro only. MIR Pro is deeply interwoven with VE Pro - the two products "know" a lot about each other, thus the possibilities to save more complex setup in a single file could be realized.

    Hope that helped,

  • hi

    no sorry :)

    - i am talking about loading the "venue presets" -(mir manual page 13 the Hint part....

how do i load these presets into an exsisting VE pro -session (all the instuments are loaded)

i can change venues like you said in your first reply no problem . But  cannot load a "a venue with a presets .

which as you write in the manual..  ".. empty stages which are set up by a team of profesionals.."

hope i am clearer this time

    thanks

  • Hu! I see. :-) Sorry for adding to the confusion.

That's much easier, and in fact there are several ways to achieve it:

Option 1: Save your existing virtual orchestra as "Channel Set" (... select all Instruments/Icons you want to import into another VI Frame, right-click on one of the Channels in the Channels-panel at the left, and follow the menu dialog). Open the VI Frame which contains a MIR Pro Venue Preset. Right-click in the Channels-panel at the left and add the previously saved Channel Set.

Option 2:  "Merge Project".  Select the command "File > Merge Project ..." from VE Pro's main menu and choose a VI Frame which contains MIR Pro Venue Preset. Any instruments you'll see in a Venue Presets are meant to be seen as "note pad" only, so don't feel obliged to select them for the merger, but make sure to activate the option to merge in "MIR Pro Engine Settings" at the bottom of the Merge dialoge window.

Option 3 works the other way 'round: Save the VI Frame you are working on first. Open the VE Frame which contains chosen MIR Pro Venue Preset. Select the command "File > Merge Project ..." from VE Pro's main menu and choose the previously saved VI Frame which contains your virtual orchestra. Select the channels and instruments you want to merge in. Make sure to keep the option to merge in "MIR Pro Engine Settings" at the bottom of the Merge dialoge window deactivated.

HINT: You will have to re-align your virtual orchestra in any case, as all the Venues have different geometries and spatial properties, but you can do this easily by clever usage of MIR Pro's "Selection Groups".

BTW: Option 1 is good practice in any case to have pre-configured "building blocks" or ensembles at hand, without the need to rely on bloated, oversized "all-in-one" templates.

  • Hi Assif,

I just checked on my side and I'm able to load Mir Pro presets (.mirep) (venue + Mic settings) into existing project successfully.

Open the VE project that contains the Mir settings (.mirep) that you wish to import and save it first:

    Vienna Mir Pro/Save...

Then, in you own project you will should be able load these settings:

    Vienna Mir Pro/Open...

[EDIT I just read Dietz response, option 2 may be easier...]

    Hope that helps

There are several reasons: First of all, MIR Pro's plugin version was added quite some time after the initial release of MIR Pro, which means that VE Pro was mandatory to run MIR Pro in the beginning. Second, only VE Frames allow for the positioning of individual MIR Icons on certain positions, while MIR Engine Projetcs (*.mirep) only contain the settings for the Venue itself and the Output Format. Several Venue Presets have been created with specific instruments in mind. And third, I sometimes (ab)use Icons on a MIR Venue's stage as some kind of notepad, to point out what I tried to achieve with a certain setting, especially in cases which might not be self-explanatory otherwise. Like mentioned above, this wouldn't be possible with plain *.mirep files. ... but you're right - from today's point-of-view we will have to think about an easier way to get these presets into the hands of MIR Pro users (maybe similar to the "Starting Points" menu in legacy Vienna MIR). 😊 Kind regards,
