  • soundset xml

    Hi,

I am trying to get Solo Strings I to work with Sibelius 7. I followed the instructions on the manual and videos.
I have routed Sibelius to where the 64bit dll file is.  I have tried moving this dll file to all folders in Sibelius. It does not scan it.
According to Sibelius, I need to place my Vienna Sound Set xml file in Sibelius Sound folder, but I cant find this xml file, when I open VSL Sibelius Soundset folder all I have is an unins000 data file and and application of the same name. Is this normal? i have tried downloading Sound Set installer again, but nothing else shows up.

    I have Windows 8.

    Thank you for your help

  • Hello Cuicatl Musica!

It seems you are mixing up sound sets with VST plugins. I recommend never copying or moving plugin (.dll) files, as this can cause problems after the next update. If Vienna Ensemble is not found by Sibelius in the list of available devices, please check the first point in the Troubleshooting section of the "Optimizing Sibelius Playback" manual.

The sound sets we provide for Sibelius are copied to the correct folder automatically when your run our VSL Soundset Installer.

  • I cannot find any file called "Vienna Ensemble x64.dl". Will there be a problem if I uninstall everything and reinstall it?

  • No this shouldn't be a problem. If you have copied or moved VSL plugin files (Vienna*.dll), I would procees as follows.
    - Uninstall Vienna Instruments & Vienna Ensemble.
    - Delete the .dll files you have copied or moved.
    - Reinstall Vienna Instruments & Vienna Ensemble.
    - During installation take care where you install the VST 64-bit plugins.
    - In Sibelius add this folder to the plugin folders (Play/Playback Devices/Audio Engine Options).

    Best,
    Andi

  • That did it. In case someone else reads this, "Vienna Ensemble x64.dl" was installed in Program Files/Common Files/Steinberg/VST2 on Windows 8.

    Thank you Andi
