    Hello VSL Community

    I noticed that solo Horns are available as well as 4 and 8 players ensembles, so if i load the 8 Horns legato patch and the 4 Horns sustained i will easily manage the section with keyswitches.

    Now let's say i wish to resemble a smaller section (e.g. 4 Horns as often occurs in 19th century scores) i will load the 4 players patch and the solo Horn..... in that case i would also like to have a 2 players patch because very often i will expect to write a line for the 1st and 3rd Horn together and a second line for the 2nd and 4th Horn. Any tips to achieve a good effect?

    Is anyway that patch available on extended libraries?

    You could look to see if any of the full libraries have what you are looking for or you could go ghetto (poor man's MIDIstration):

    Use two solo instances of the horn but transpose one line up or down say a major 2nd then correct the transposed line by adjusting the pitch fader accordingly (to avoid phasing) then color the sound by using eq. or exciter etc.

    I gave a look to the extended libraries but i didn't find that patch... 

    this ghetto is of course a good option, i didn't know it. Thank you for the suggestion and for sharing the tip. 😊

    I have the vienesse horn and the triple horn, and my 4 horn setup is one triple and one vienesse for the higher horns, and one of each for the lower, so for two-part writing I do not need the transposition trick. For unison I use the a4 patches.

    Of cours, the dimension Brass would be the best option for things like this.

    In my original post I said "transcribe."  I mispoke, it should be transpose of course.  I went back and fixed it.
