  • Can I have Fp AND long notes (Brass FH)

    Hi

I ran into this problem: I would like to have a French Horn playing a note with the Fp art. But I want it to sustain, and it doesn't. Can this be done without creating a second French Horn to play the sustained sound?

  • Hi Stig,

I´d use Slot XFade to do this. Insert both articulations in 2 slots of a cell and then decide if you want to crossfade between them (play the fp, then xfade to the sustain when you´re ready - that´s what I´d do, to avoid phasing) or let the Fortepiano ring out and let the sustain take over.

  • Hi Paul

    I Will try that.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Paul

I have tried what you suggested, and the I ran into this problem. The FP articulation of the Trumpet in C (TrC_fp) is quit soft in the character but the TrC_sus_noVib is much louder and sharper in the sound.

I manage to lower the volume of the TrC_sus_noVib, but I can't find a way to make it more soft.

Am I right in assuming that it's not possible?

  • You can pull the filter down to take off a little of the edge.

  • I think that will affect both samples, right?

  • Yes, but just pull it down when you have done the xFade.

  • Okay live!!

    I'll try that!

  • The full version of Trumpet-C offers in the patch folder "98 RESSOURCES / 02 Long Notes-Single Layers" all dynamic variations of the sustains as individual patches. (pp, p, mp, mf, f, ff) So you can choose the sustain patch which matches best sonically to the fp patch for layering/crossfading. You just have to set the volumeof the sustain to the right level.
