I was inspired by that nice performance Exister did of the Beethoven 5th to put my own up here - I recently revised it, using Dimension Strings layered with Appassionata and MIR Viennakonzerthaus.

Hi William,
i like it ! Dimensions strings layered with appassionata give a very good result : the violins are very natural. I just would like to hear a little more the cellos / bass. Very well done !
Best.

This is outstanding William.
I'm curious how long this took you? Did you play each part in or start with an existing midi file?
-
thanks winknotes - it was about three days and I used just the raw sheet music notes - nothing but pitches and note lengths - from a pre existing midi file.
The mix on this was completely simple - MIR with the default instrument profiles and the overall wet/dry to -48%. Also, a little bit less wet on the lower instruments and timpani. MIR makes doing a mix so easy it allows one to concentrate on the music which is what I wanted to do on this piece. I did some non-notated tweaks of tempo and dynamics and grand pauses simply because the music demands it. Even though it is Classical era, it is actually Romantic music. One cannot do this music without getting emotional. I was shaking my fist at fate near the end.
