  • 2 Computers. 1 external drive. 1 Key. Can it be done?

Before I get serious about the VSL libraries I need to know something for certain. Here a scenario. Will it work?

Suppose I buy the VSL drive with all the libraries, purchased or not. Now I have an external drive. I have two computers: a desktop and a laptop. Can I plug in the external drive into either computer and just move the key? One installation, one drive, one key with registered purchases, but two computers. One computer at a time, but everything I've purchased accessible to either machine with one registration and one key. Can I do that?

I just want to know if I can do this or not. I need to know before I commit to how I'm going to go about doing things.

  • Yes, that should be fine. All that needs to be connected to any computer you want to use is the key and the drive. You would install the software on both computers and run Directory Manager, so that it knows what drive the samples are stored on, but other than that it is pretty simple.

  • Thanks! I was wondering if the software was necessarily confined and registered to a specific computer. That would make it a major pain to buy a new computer, unregister all the software, and then reregister the software for the new computer. Much easier to have a separate drive and key which only requires a little reinstallation of the core software such as the Directory Manager, Vienna Instruments Standalone, etc. That is a great weight off my mind.

    Thanks!
