  • Vienna Hard Drive

    Hi all,

The hard drive I use to store my samples has just died, so I was wondering about whether to go for the Vienna Hard Drive I remember being advertised a few months ago. I can't see it anywhere on the site though, has it been discontinued? Or am I just not looking in the right place?

    Many thanks,

    Pyre

  • Hi Pyre,

The Vienna Hard Drive can be added in your basked when you order a product. If you ONLY want the Vienna Hard Drive, you can do that with a little trick: Remove the other product after you have added the Vienna Hard Drive.

Mind you: The Vienna Hard Drive is a SLOW harddrive (5400 rpm) that only contains the INSTALLATION DATA for the Vienna Instruments Collections (NOT the installed sample content), which makes it ideal as an alternative to downloading the Super Package or simply to have as a backup.

If you want a harddrive for the sample content, I´d go with SSD drives or at least 7200 rpm drives.

    Best,

  • Hi Paul, thanks very much for your response.

I hadn't realised that the Vienna Hard Drive was for the installer files only; I had assumed the samples ran directly from the drive (yet another reason I should read the text more carefully). On the back of this I have ordered a 7200rpm drive from Amazon for £40, much like the previous one that just broke. Luckily I was able to load the old drive into an external caddy and access it by USB, so I could copy the files onto my main drive and won't need to go through installing them all over again.

    Many thanks,

    Pyre
