  • Differences between old Horizon libraries and current VSL?

Some years ago I did a lot of work with the Horizon libraries. I am now getting back into orchestral simulations, and I am wondering, for librairies which already existed then (e.g. Chamber Strings), what does the new library add? Apart from just requiring your own VSL player, as opposed to Kontakt.  Same samples or new? More control options (e. g. ???).

    Thank you,

    Alan Belkin

  • There are a gazillion more samples and if you haven't experienced the new player, you really should. Once you have used that, the upgrade to VI Pro is a no brainer. I can't imagine going back to the old stuff now. It would be an absolute nightmare of slow inefficiency in comparison.

    Hi Alan,

Our Software Video Tutorials show a lot of those features, maybe that gives you an idea...

  • Just a note to say that I am right now downloading a bunch of the new VSL libraries.  I will certainly have questions as I start working with them!  :-)

  • Hi Alan,

apart from the new player and it incomparably more advanced possibilties (both in the standard and the PRO version), it is the integration of the libraries with the new software (VE PRO, Vienna Suite and last but not least, Vienna MIR PRO), which really raised the whole thing on to a completely new level. With this, VSL has evolved into a high-end, completely integrated production platform for sample-based orchestral music which is quite unique and (imho) pretty much unsurpassed in the range of possibilities it offers.
