  • Key juggling between slave and main machine?

    Hi All,

I'm curious about how people handle this situation.

I keep a large instance of VEP running on a slave machine and use that across many Cubase projects. However, there are times when I need something quick and small that's not already loaded on the slave and I would just like to use it on the main machine, directly in Vienna Instruments, without VE Pro. That means shutting down the slave VEP, moving the eLicenser over to the main machine and when I'm done, moving the eLicenser back and relaunching the big VEP instance. That launch/load takes 20 minutes.

Is there any way to speed up this process somehow?

    Thanks,

    Jason

  • my apologies, I read this wrong.

  • No problem.

Maybe this is a feature request. If the main machine can communicate with the slave and has permission to use instruments there, it seems like it could be allowed to use instruments locally. This would be a huge time saver.

Otherwise, is it possible to share an eLicenser between machines with something like this?

  • The software communicates with the key through the elicenser software which looks for the USB connected to the particular machine. I don't know what a hub would possibly do to change this situation.

I have used Vienna Instruments on a master machine when I was using master/slave and it was a simple matter of sticking the key in before launching it. Of course you can't load it beforehand. I wasn't using gigantic presets or anything. That's my experience, I doubt there's a way around it.
