    Can someone from VSL please explain to me what is the performance detache/marcato patches? What makes it different than the regular detache/marcato?

    Hello Nektarios, 

    "Performance" always stands for connected notes. The Performance Detaches and Marcatos were recorded just like the performance legatos and portamento, but with a different articulation. 

    The difference is in the transition sound, from note to note.

     Thank you! So if I understand this correctly, If I start with a performance detache, and then go to a sustain, there will be a connected note triggered, right? This connected note will be for all articulations? or just a subset of articulations?

    Hi, 

    Ehm, no. 

    A sustained note is a sustained note that was sampled as a single note. 

    Whenever you play a Performance Legato Articulation, you will get a connection TO that Performance Legato Articulation. 

    The best way to try is with portamento, that´s the most audible transition.

     ok, thank you! So basically connected notes are amongst performance articulations... i.e. perf-detache-->perf-portamento-->perf-legato in this case we'll get 2 connected samples... Correct me if I am wrong...

    You also get one when you play sustained -> perf_articulation

    You always get a transition from ANY articulation TO a performance articulation.

     One more question I have is, what is the best way to get a connected *bow change* note? Or is this not possible? Do I have to trigger another performance-legato patch? Do I create a small gap between notes?

    The reason I am asking this is because, if I am playing a long note (i.e. 4 seconds in length), naturally, the player has to change bow direction on the next note, and not be in the same bow direction.
