  • Powerpan vs. Stereo Pan

I have Vienna Suite and VEPRO5. Is there a difference between using the default Stereo Pan and inserting the Power Pan plugin? It seems like they do the same thing. Thanks in advance for the help!

  • The plugin provides post- and pre- balance controls, which gives a look such as:

So there is that additional shaping of the field potentially. I can't really articulate it atm so there's a picture.

  • Ah, OK. I vaguely remember those from the tutorial. I am creating an orchestral template and I have been adding that plugin to each instrument in the mixer. Do most people do this? It's going to be a lot of instruments (100+) if I keep doing it. Is it resource intensive? Thanks for replying.

  • Hi Lazerwolfe,

in reply to your initial posting and your private message: Technically, Vienna Suite's PowerPan and the panning device which comes with VE Pro will achieve the same results when used with the same settings. Like pointed out by fellow user Civilization 3, Vienna Suite's PowerPan offers more features and more detailed options than its built-in countertpart. Especially the option to flip phase and to swap channels will come handy on certain occasions.

CPU-wise neither the one nor the other will tax your system a lot. :-)

  • civilization 3 and Dietz, I didn't want to waste time adding the plugin to literally every mixer channel I was using until I learned more, that's why I also made a thread to get a fast response. I will use the default stereo pan for now but I'm glad I know the difference now. Thank you both for your help!
