  • selecting/assigning midi channels for matrix instruments?

I'm very new to VSL. I'd like to assign different instruments in the matrix to different midi channels so that I can record multiple (16) midi tracks. It seems so easy to do in PLAY and Kontakt - where is it here? Please tell me that I don't have to open a new Vienna Instrument for every instrument in the orchestra. This will crash my processor.

You have to open a new VI for each individual MIDI stream. Why do you think it will crash your processor? I have not heard of that being a problem for anyone.

  • Kontakt is analog to Vienna Ensemble, which hosts several Vienna Instruments one for each channel.

  • Thanks for reply. I work in DP and it tends to get overwhelmed when I open many virtual instruments. Working towards making better use of my system and possibly adding a master/slave setup. Do you know if Vienna Ensemble allows for midi channel assignment? Or would I have to open more instances with that as well?

  • Aha, thank you for Vienna Ensemble post. Now I understand.

  • Indeed VE is what you are after, as your DAW will only have to worry about one plug-in. However, I had problems with the demo version of DP8 (Windows) and VE, but IIRC the MOTU forum had a solution. I'm sure you'll be fine [:D]
