  • Having major timing issues with VEP 5 in Pro Tools 11….

Hi folks! I've been struggling for years with MIDI timing issues and latency while recording MIDI in Pro Tools 10, so I'm well aware that MIDI in Pro Tools is not fun as it is. Incorporating VEP5 into the mix was amazing in terms of being able to load far more instruments, but introduced a whole new set of issues with latency for me. Most of those issues are only when I am in MIDI record mode, not playback. I've learned to just deal with it. However, since moving to PT11, I have noticed a whole new issue that I cannot figure out. It seems that if I send any instruments out one of VEP's 'aux' busses to an aux in PT, the latency is horrific. I have tried everything. Lower thread count, plug-in latency checked/unchecked in VEP, delay comp on/off in PT, 'delay compensation for external devices' checked/unchecked in PT. Nothing, short of nudging all midi way to the left, seems to fix this issue. It happens on all aux busses, with all of my VI's. So it's back to PT 10 for me, as I need the flexibility of multi-outs with VEP. Has anyone else encountered this? IS there a fix? Thanks! Chris Stevens

  • Hi Chris!

I'm having similar issues running PT12 with Vienna Ensemble Pro Server 6. Have you been able to resolve the latency issue(s)?

    Any help/advice would be appreciated!

    Best,

    Luis
