  • Performance Repetition with two alternating 1/16th notes.

    Hi,

Suppose I have two 1/16th notes, i.e. C and D, and are just alternating CDCDCDCDC, which articulation is best to use for this pattern? I find that a performance repetition sounds good, so is a performance repetition appropriate here or a normal perf legato? The instrument would be a violin playing spiccato or staccato.

    Cheers,

    -N.

  • I think you're right, performance repetition should be good there.

  • Thank you. Although, from what I read here in the forums, it leads me to believe that performance repetition patches are for repeating same notes. In the above example we have two notes alternating, so how come it still works?

I had essentially the same question:

Since then I've been using VI Pro, which uses a series of red dots to show clearly which rep is being played, and it does look like it's cycling through alternatives even when the melody moves around among different pitches.

  • Thank you. So essentially, we should choose a performance repetition when we have a repeating pattern instead of a repeating note. Maybe VSL should update their documentation or video tutorials and mention this fact...
