VSL Ensemble Pro5 can't see server on my computer in the instrument plugin
Hi Comm. I'm new user of VSL ensemble but a long time user of val instruments. I tried to use ensemble 5 for my East west Play instruments with big luck on my Mac Pro 8 core in Logic X (Same computer) The first time I used it there was no problem, It took a while to show the available instance but it came after 15 seconds, now I can't see it when I try to load the session again .... tried everything, please give me some hint's. Searched google and the manual for a week Best Kristian

Hello Paul, :) Yes I have started the VE PRO Server outside of logic, and it actually worked on of in the start, suddenly it couldn't connect after a load of the session again. Now I tried to make a new clean session with same kind of multitimbral instrument setup inside logic, and then it works .... I'm a bit worried if it's that unstable. Best Kristian

Hello Kristian,
If you activated Decouple, the data is not stored with your sequencer project. So if you have not saved your VE PRO instance as a *.vframe file or within a *.mframe file, I´m afraid that information is lost.
Maybe you´re lucky and one of the auto-backups of your sequencer still has the VE PRO data (before you activated "Decouple")....
Best,
Paul

Hello Paul, Thank's for fast reply. It's not the problem. I have the VE PRO instance as vframe and mframe , so I can load my instrument setup in VE PRO but I can't se the server inside logic, if I make a new session from scratch I can connect to this saved instance. I try to se if it was a one time bugger inside Logic or I get back to you :) Best Kristian

Hi And,
Checklist:
- Latest version of VE PRO 5 installed?
- disconnect from the internet, then switch off your firewall and Anti-virus programs - does that help?
- Check if you have any 3rd party programs like "Little Snitch" installed, that coud affect network connections.
Does that help?
Best,
Paul

Hi And,
Some more input: You should definitely use static IP addresses, and avoid 169.x.x.x addresses (these are automatically assigned by your computer and tend to change).
Manually assign one of these IP addresses: 192.168.0.x or 10.0.0.x, and assign a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, then it should work.
That should do it!
Best,
Paul

Hi Paul, Tried your check list, and I reinstalled the software and then I got it connected twice but third reopening of the logic session the connection is again not possible. Now it\s dead again. I send you snaps to look at. After your 3rd try, when the instances weren't showing, did you look at the VEP servers on your slaves? If (for some reason) they still showed as 'connected', then they would not show up in the list as available. If so, just force disconnect them. Then they should show up. I have occassionally had issues like this, while working in ProTools 10 HD.
Maybe that is what is going on with your system.... just a thought.
