    Hi,

I'm using the Natural Volume Overview table in the MIRx manual as a guide in order to manually balance my orchestral template. Each section in Dimension Brass gets summed in a Cubase channel (e.g. all four trumpets go into a single channel), which I adjust using the trim knob. The overview says, for example, that trumpets should be lowered by -2db. Does that number refer to the entire section (all four instruments) or does it mean that each trumpet should be lowered by that amount? And in that case, what would be the value of 4 times -2db? I tried figuring this out by the numbers with test tones but Cubase is behaving very strangely when I do that.

    Thanks.

EDIT: In case the second option is correct, I've used this db summing page to add the attenuations, and arrived to the results. Could someone confirm this please?

    4 Trumpets : 4 x 2 db = 8,02 db

    4 Horns : 4 x 6 db = 12,02 db

    4 Trombones : 4 x 1 db = 7,02 db

    4 Low Brass : 4 x 1 db = 7,02 db
