  • Mir pro24 not more than 9 instances

    Hi,

My computer 8 core Mac Pro 2.26 Ghz 16 GB Ram cannot handle more than 9 instances of Mir pro24. I did experiment with the audio buffer size without succes. Is this normal? Can someone give me some advice. Maybe an extra computer to run Mir Pro24 on?

By the way I am using Notion notation software.

  • Is your lib on ssd ?

Do you have the possibility to try another DAW ?

  • Hi Cyril,

No the library  is on a harddrive with 7200 rpm. What I observed is that it's occuring with the Dimension string and Dimension brass libraries.

I will try it in Logic 9 with the same piece of music.

  • MIR Pro isn't the culprit, most likely. I suspect that the Dimension Instruments put too much strain on your system. Have you tried to use other instruments than Dimension Instruments, just for testing purposes?

  • One thing I learn today is that Dimension instruments uses more resources

Also 16 GB is not much nowdays and SSD drives are recommended

It could be also Notion. I have done some test with Notion SLE, this software show it is not optimised for multi processing

Can  you have a look to activity monitor ? what are the values of  Memory when the project has been played ?

    Dietz :

What about the Imperial ? is it very CPU consuming ? even if you load it and not use it ?

  • Hi,

The problem did not occur in Logic. Is it possible that it has something to do with the graphics memory? On the activity monitor I see when the size of VG changes Notion cannot cope it. and gives a very distorted sound. I do not know what this means (VG = Video Graphics?)

Where do you see this VG parameter ?

  • Hi Cyril

In the activity monitor, tab System memory, first item of second column
