  • 8 simultaneous layers for dimension strings

Hi, I am totally new to the vienna instruments software (don't have pro, but might buy it). I have just purchased dimension strings and I am on a fairly tight timeline for a project and am trying to get up to speed very quickly.

Basically what I would like to do is load up all 8 violins and play them on one midi channel. Possible? I see how I can stack 4 programs up in the 4 slots of a cell, but don't see how I could sound 2 cells simultaneously. Perhaps I should just settle for loading the 4 desks right now. I don't even really see how to load up 8 simultaneous violins on 8 midi channels, which I would also settle for. Can't see the multitimbral/midi management section anywhere.

Then I would of course want to load up the violas similarly etc. Would I need a new instance of the player for the new section?

Thanks all! Very excited about the library, but nervous about the learning curve under pressure! Darcy

  • Oh, now I notice that the desks have not been sampled together, they are just two single violins in two slots of a cell. Ok, now I need to figure out a solution more than ever. How can I play all 8 violins at the same time in one instance?

  • Should have also added that I am working in Logic. Thanks!

  • In one of the video tutorials, he is invoking new instances in a column on the left, but I can't see how to find that at all.

  • There are Presets for doing what you want. However, I've a feeling that they only work on VI Pro.

  • I am now trying to dowload a trial version of VI pro. Got the license, and saved on the usb thing, but how on earth do i get the actual software?

    hopeless newb.

  • Mine is in my USER AREA under SOFTWARE.

  • All I see in my user area - software - VI Pro is user manuals.

Suppose I can just use two instances of four each (or 4 + 2) for each section. Not that bad, and gets me there for now.

  •  All in all VI PRO offers in summary 16 slots (8 A slots and 8 B slots). When nothing is loaded just the fist four rows are displayed.

But when you drag in any patch you will see that there are more available.

  • Oh I see, that is how it would work. Ok, that is great to know, thanks. Sounds like that is what I'm going to need.
