I have VI PRO and VE PRO 5, and Sibelius 7. If I wish to add an extra flute to my orchestra, is it best to add a separate midi channel and add a corresponding VE channel, or is it possible to use existing channels without problems. In my present setup, I have single channels for each instrument, corresponding with the single staves in the score, with double wind sharing each stave. This isn't a problem in chordal writing, but polyphonic writing is a problem for playback. The following quote from another Topic: "How to achieve an ensemble from one Instrument Patch?" puzzled me in reference to my own question: """
You cannot stack as many patches (4, if you are using theparallel cells in VI), but you can simply open multiple instances and assign those to the same MIDI Channes, using, e.g., Vienna Ensemble. Alternatively, you can use the new Vienna Instruments PRO, that lets you stack up to 8 patches.
But you will never get the sound of an ensemble by stacking solo instruments this way, I´m afraid. There is something else happening when many instruments play together - different vibratos, slightly different intonation and so forth - that makes the sound of an ensemble special.
Best,
Paul""" does this point to a solution for me, or should I just separate the wind out parts to separate staves, midi channels and VE channels?

Hello Phil!
In Sibelius one staff can only play on one MIDI channel at one time. So if you write two voices on one staff, both voices will always be played by the same instrument with the same articulation (patch). If you don't want that, you will have to use one staff and MIDI channel for every player.
