Best Way to integrate VEPro5-Audio-Input in Cubase for a "Slave"? (MIR Effektrack on ...

 Hi all,

Whats best Way to integrate VEPro5-Audio-Input in Cubase? I would like run my MIRs on my Slave-Pc.

But for me its a bit tricky, cause whe have one channel per Instance more to handle. And then the "soloing" confusing me. Even if i "connect channels".

And, Pre- or Post-Fader? I would like to send also other Audio-Channels such i have to manipulate before! it goes to MIR (VEPro5).

(The Slave-Pc is too slow to run the Rest of my Projects. So it should only act as a "Effect-Rack". For that is enought.)

I assumed that VEPro5 Audio-Input-Channel work as a "externel Effect" in Cubase. But i was suprised its not!

Maybe i oversee somewhat.:)

Some Experiences or Infos?

Hi Ron,

sorry for the late reply, I've been off-line for a while.

I assume that you are planning for hosting your instruments on the slave PC, aren't you? IOW - you want to send MIDI to VE Pro which hosts both some instruments as well as MIR Pro. Or are you sending audio to VE Pro / MIR Pro?

In any case: Look at VE Pro / MIR Pro as some kind of glorified sub-mixer rather than an external "effects rack". Instantiate VE Pro in Cubase's "VST Instruments Rack" window and make sure that you solo-defeat its return channel (Alt-click the respective Solo-button). That way you can solo individual MIDI or audio tracks while still hearing VE Pro's return.

In case you're using VE Pro's "Audio Input" plug-in for routing audio into VE Pro, I suggest you instantiate this plug-in in one of the two post-fader insert slots (7+8). Like that you can continue to use Cubase's mute and solo buttons, Cubase's fader and fader automation for each individual signal, and pre-send plug-in processing (post -send can be achieved by using plug-ins inside VE Pro or on the return channel).

Or course you can open more than one return channel from VE Pro if you need multiple stems. Just click the little arrow-sign on the left in the VST Instrument Rack window to activate them. Now select one of the activated outputs within VE Pro, and you're done.

I learned that:

1. if you using a VEPro6-Input-Plugin as a Insert in a Channel, its not possibel to Route a Send-Signal to a Effekt-Channel which has a VEPro5-Input-Plugin inserted. Otherwise it stops sending Audio to the Slave. (that make Sense, but can confusing)

2. One have to use a "Panner"-Plugin as a Insert before VEPro5 in the Slot-Rack in Cubase, if you would lijke to Pan the Signal before sending to the Slave. (Cause the Cubase Channel-Panner has no influence to the VEPro-Input-Plugin.)

Yes, that's true (at least as long as you're talking about post-fader Aux-sends), because VE Pro's Audio Input plug-in interrupts the signal flow inside a DAW's audio channel.

Either that, or you use VE Pro's own Power Panner - which can be moved to a position before another plug-in.
