There are two Video Demos in Products/Instruments Collections/Dim.Strings, which show what DS is and it can.

Is it possible to find a DS Tutorial where I can see step by step settings and be able to use it in my practical craft?

  • Hi Violin,

These are the only 2 videos, hopefully giving you an overview of what´s possible...

There are so many possibilities with Dimension Strings (and everybody is using them in a different ways and combinations, as it seems), that it´s hard for us to give any further instructions on how to use this collection... other than saying: Try everything and stick with what sounds best to you.

Feel free to post your own approach with Dimension Strings, I´m sure that other users will contribute!

    Best,

    Paul

  • Hi Paul!

Thanks for the answer. I'v gotten all sounds best for me. I'm so happy with all VSL sounds.

My question was, how to set scoring in my String Concert, where it starts with 5 traditional staffs changing to 8 Violins I, 8 Violins II and so on? Should I set at the beginning so many tracks for each groups ( Violin I - 8 tracks, Violin II - 8 tracks .......) but use only the first tracks at the begin with or change Tutty to Devision within VI Pro?

I hope it is ease to get the idea.

    Regards.

  •  With Dimension Strings you can freely assign any instruments to any part.

So if you want several players on one part, you can use the same MIDI channel for each of them.

With violins you could have as many as 8 separate players, or any combination within that number.  The easiest way to do it is simply use your MIDI channel to trigger different players or combinations.  And be sure to set different "humanize" functions within each player that is on the same MIDI channel.  That way, it will be much more realistic and actually as if they were on separate MIDI channels.

  • Hello William!

    Thanks for the answer.

As I see, you mean to use the same music passage in the same MIDI chanal

with humanize. I'm sorry if I;m wrong.

My question was how to set 8 Violins to play a different passages, a big divisi, after a unison and again a divisi?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hello William!

    Thanks for the answer.

As I see, you mean several players on one part with the same music passage in the same MIDI channel.

I want several players on two parts with different passages, come later after to unison and again different parts. Is it possible?

    Thanks in advance.

  • In that case you would put them on different channels.  You can have as many as 8 separate channels which can all play different lines.  Then for a unison of any or all players, you would simply copy the line in the sequencer on the corresponding tracks.

  • Thanks William,

    It's the answer I'v needed.
