I've never seen the behaviour you describe. It sounds as if there is something wrong with your set-up, like not using fixed IP, for example.

Interesting. I've never had it not behave that way, using and updating it for over 3.5 years now.
And, I had no idea that using dynamically allocated IP addresses on my computers would be considered as something wrong with my setup. I restart them everyday, and they get different IP addresses, probably most every time, considering I have a dozen or more devices on the network.. the only time these connections get broken, ever, is when I update the VE Pro software. Hence my query.

Static IP is the way to go for VEP.

Hi tony h,
I have checked your registrations, you are using Vienna Ensemble PRO 4. There have been quite a few updates in the last years for all our software products, so the first step is to update:
Unfortunately Vista 64 is not supported anymore, so you might want to stick to the Archive versions of VI and VE PRO 4 or (better) upgrade to Windows 7 on your slave computer.
Then, to be safe that your Vienna Instruments actually SEE the sample content:
Please open the Directory Manager (find it in "Applications" (OS X) or "All Programs" (Win) => then "Vienna Instruments").
Remove all folders - then add all sample content again by drag and drop from your Finder/Explorer.
More information about how the Directory Manager works can be found in this video.
Let´s take it step by step. You can always contact us at with more, questions, details and screenshots.
Best,
Paul
Hi Paul, glad you could make it to this thread! The original poster (me![:)]) wanted to know if he could safely update the VEP software now, and not worry that all the connections to the plugins are broken..
Is it because I don't run the computers here with static IP addresses?
Hi tony h,
You don´t see any software because you are logging in with your "tony h" account, which you just generated (but it does not contain any registered products).
You have registered your products with a different email address (hint: xx@swbell.net), you will see all downloads as soon as you are logged in with this email address.
Any troubles: Contact us at ! It will probably be easier to discuss this via mail than on the forum anyway.
Please also update your eLCC software on both computers, to be safe. You can always transfer data with a USB stick between computers).
So let´s take it from there (latest software versions installed).
Best,
Paul
