VAT for non EU residents
Hello everyone! I am first time here, and have some hard time deciding on a few purchases. More so, I cannot get VAT excl. price on order, although the info page for the instruments (single, with download option) clearly states that national VAT is included in the price. I fill in my country and adress, but alas. I actually mailed this question to sales department, but a few hours later I feel like asking forum members - surely someone knows! Thanks VZ.

I noticed the same problem as the OP. Could somebody please tell me how I can get the VAT *excl* price? Thanks! Julian

Hi Stefan,
I may be doing something wrong (this is the first time that I am ordering directly from VSL's webshop), but even though my address is outside the EU, I still see only the VAT incl prices in the webshop.
For example, if I am logged in and I add the XXL tamtam and Flute 1 products to my basket, I get the following (VAT incl) prices when I proceed to checkout:
# Quantity Product Price Subtotal1 1 XXL Tamtam Full Library € 105.00 € 105.00
2 1 Flute 1 Full Library€ 130.00 € 130.00

Hi Stefan
I apologize for debating this point, but something doesn't seem right to me:
1) When I change my address to Vienna, Austria, the checkout prices remain the same.
2) When I order these VSL products via Best Service, the prices that I quoted above are the VAT *incl* prices, and the VAT excl prices are €88,24 for the XXL tamtam and €109,24 for Flute 1. It would be a surprising coincidence if Best Service's VAT incl prices are exactly the same as VSL's VAT excl prices.
Thanks,
Julian

Hi Julian,
I'll be happy to clear this up for you.
Within the European Union, the prices in our web shop include 20% Austrian VAT. For customers outside of the European Union we stick to the habits of American online shops where VAT is generally not included. For customers outside of the European Union, the price stays the same but is without VAT.
Best Service purchases all products at a fixed rate from us, and they're free to resell them with any given price tag. You are of course free to order at whichever shop you prefer.
Best,
Stefan

This is very strange... Do I understand correctly that the VAT incl price for EU residents is the same as the VAT excl price for non-EU residents? In other words, non-EU residents actually pay 20% more than EU residents?
Taking the XXL tamtam as example:
The VAT incl price for EU residents is €105.00 (so the VAT excl price for EU residents is approximately €88.00)
and the VAT excl price for non-EU residents is also €105.00?Julian

unfortunately there is no such thing like an excl-VAT price for non-EU-countries (except switzerland where a special agreement to austria exists), there is simply a price.
actually within EU you can't buy at excl-VAT price if you can't provide a VAT-ID.
and you won't want me to get into details about exporting immaterial goods - even within EU this is not regulated consistently ...
sorry ...
according to our authorized dealer list you could buy locally incl. your national VAT
and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
