  • MIRx and 2nd Vln

Purchased MIRx and loving it. However, with the Vienna Konzerthaus at least, the 2nd violins are seated on the right. I am used to have the 2nds next to the first on the left. If you switch to general purpose mid, the 2nd are positioned in about the correct area but the natural volume is different. Can't be changed.

  • Hi Babe,

    EDIT:

You could invert L-R pan to let the second violins change sides. The problem with this setting is that the same samples will be played at about the same position...

You can always switch off the natural volume and adjust the volume manually for each VI PRO instance. If that doesn´t work for some reason, please contact  with more details (you can also send a short song as a zip file, if you like, or include screenshots).

    Best,

  • Inverting the pan would put the second violins on top of the first, instead of next to.

  • Playing with the pan, both in VEP and in my DAW, moving the 2nd VLN to the left or left towards the center does put the instrument in the right location, but it just doesn't sound right. It seem to really mess with the reverb.

As noted in another post, the default strings set up in MIRx is commonly referred to as the European setup. Going Left to Right it's V1, Va, Ce, V2, Basses centered. When selecting Natural Volume, the section is pre-balanced for you which really shows up in vertical harmony.
