Is "STORM DRUMS" from EWQL my answer? Can this sort of drum work be duplicated with just VSL?

    What are you guys using??

I use both Storm Drum and Storm Drum 2 by EWQL, and the sounds, especially SD2, are really good. Right now You get two EWQL products at the prize of one, so do it. I bought too early. :(

  • Bringing this topic back to life.
How about the VSL Percussion...? Bass drums together with the timpani and snare/taiko drums should do pretty well on those Hollywood type of scores?

you'll need some compression and exciting, etc. I'm using VSL Percussion, the bass drums sound huge, the taikos are ok, the timpani are excellent, I've found the concert toms very useful, but some other products may be 'produced', VSL are 'dry'.

  • A gunshot perhaps?... The right aim will yield even higher gains on top of loud sounds...

  • o.k., never mind, I was going to post something about imitating Zimmer but I'll refrain.  I have finally realized there is no point.

  • Hi all, Have a look at "Damage" from NI http://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/orchestral-cinematic/damage/?content=1747 F.

  • there are some rilly big toms in Cinetoms by Cinesamples. I just pulled out 'Pearl 16B brushes', NICE.
Their Drums of War is made to directly compete with that EWQL product. This sort of gigantor sound really involves production strategies. I don't know to what extent EWQL builds it into the samples, which is something I do not want, myself... their reverberation might be just the thing for 'Hans Zimmer', whose music I don't really know.

  • Sorry, I shouldn't comment.

  • I'll just leave this here. http://www.spitfireaudio.com/browse-range-signature
