  • Using Finale with Level II presets

    Hello Andy

I am trying Finale, what do I have to do to make it compatible to the Level II preset of the big collection ?

you say : The files "VEinstruments.txt" and "VEPinstruments.txt" ....goes ....

Mac Finale 2010: Mac HD/Applications/Finale 2010/Finale MIDI Devices

    Mac Finale 2011: Mac HD/Users/username/Library/Application Support/MakeMusic/Finale 2011/MIDI Device Annotation

Where do you put the files for Finale 2012 ?

Thanks in advance for your guidance

    Best regards
    Cyril

  • also you must review :

Mac: In MIDI/Audio/Instrument Setup/Audio Units Instruments choose Vienna Enemble. The Vienna Ensemble window, where you can load your instruments, will open automatically. Also make sure that in the MIDI/Audio menu "Play Finale through Audio Units" is activated.

    3. To import the settings in your Finale score, go to MIDI/Audio/Human Playback/Human Playback Preferences and click Import. Then choose the F2009+VSL-SE_HumanPlayback.MUS file

Because they have change it in 2012 version

    Thanks

    Cyril

  • Hello Cyril!

I am not at the office today, so can't look up the path for you right now. I would guess for Finale 2012/MacOS it is
    /Users/username/Library/Application Support/MakeMusic/Finale 2012/MIDI Device Annotation

Under Mac OS X 10.7 and 10.8 the Users/your username/Library folder is hidden by default. To get access go to the folder Users/your username. Then choose Go/Go to folder and enter “Library”.

As far as I remember I reviewed the text you are quoting in your second message for Finale 2012. What exactly do you think has changed in this process?

In order to use our bigger instrument collections with Finale, please use the Keyswitch dump file we provide in your User Area.
    http://www.vsl.co.at/en/68/141/460/1603/1290.htm

With help of this file you can add keyswitches and MIDI Control Changes to your score in order to change articulations.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Hi Andi

    Thanks for your answer.

If you want you can give me your feelings on a PM !

For the monement I have tried Notion SLE  and Finale, they show how you can write badly a program !

I have be so disapointed of the concept, the ergonomy, the feature and the lack of multitasking of those programs

What is incredible is that the score in Finale is less good than in Logic !
