  • VEP and licenses - not very clear.

Hi, Before I finally make the big jump and buy this beautiful piece of software, I need some things to be clarified... I want to use Vienna Ensemble Pro on a second computer ( iMac w/Pro Tools 10 and 11, Macbook Pro which I'd like to install Vienna Ensemble Pro on ). I use a lot of plugins and Virtual Instruments for which I have a license on my iLok key. I know I need a Vienna key to make it work. What I don't know is what I have to do with my other plugins licenses... I suppose I'm going to use these plugins and VIs on my main computer sometimes, and sometimes I will need to use it on my second computer through VEP when it's a very big session. Do I necessarily need all my licenses on the Vienna key ? Another example is : What if for some reason I need to run an instance of kontakt from my main computer, and another one on the second computer through Vienna Ensemble Pro ? Do I have to buy another license for kontakt and store it in the VSL key ? Is there any chance I can "copy" the license I already bought and use both iLok and VSL key at the same time or is it gonna crash the session ? Do I have to choose on which key I'll store my licenses ? Same example for Waves plugins : What if I need to run the same compressor plugin on both computers at the same time ? These software and libraries are very appealing but I gotta make sure it doesn't put the mess in a system I spend a lot of time to make stable... Hope anyone can give me a precise answer and sorry for my english, I'm french so... ;) Thank you.

  • You only need to store the VE license on the key with repect of using their software.

As for all your plugins - you need to check with each company - most will allow 2-3 installs on different PC. I am doing what you do and its all working fine (ish!)..

  • SO if I understand well, I keep my licenses on my ilok ( otherwise, pro tools will put my plugins in the unused folder... ) and just store the vienna licenses on the vienna key... ? And I'll be able to use the plugins on the slave computer as well ? Sorry again, but this is confusing to me... ;)

  • Hi Soap,

Vienna Ensemble PRO is a HOST for your plug-ins. It requires a license on a ViennaKey to run (on each computer you want to use it).

Your plug-ins require licenses as well - but that has nothing to do with your VE PRO license.

Still, licenses have to be available on the computer you want to use your plug-ins on (be it with VE PRO or with your sequencer).

So, for Kontakt or Spectrasonics, if you want to run these plug-ins on multiple computers, you will need multiple licenses.

    Does that help?

  • yes Paul, now this is clearer to me... Thanks a lot for your detailed explanation.

  • among these, Kontakt is not going to cause you a problem to stop you. the license agreement covers I think three computers, but there is no mechanism to shut you down. other things might, I have had a show stopper from fxPansion. /I had never needed it on more than one computer. It used to be with NI you would manage the authorizations, delete them as needed which I'd prefer to that./

  • Paul, I want to open EW Play only on my VEP Slave. I have ViennaKey on both computers. I have one ILok on my main computer running Protools. Do I need an extra Ilok on my slave PC or can it access my play license at my main pc ilok?

  • It's not going to access the key through the network, no. Two computers, two iLoks.

  • Hi, I'm running VE on a mac and a slave, one instance on each. I just got my second Vienna key for the slave - how do I authorize it? eLicensor said the authentication code I provided has already been used, but I thought we got three licenses for up to three computers - where are the other authentication codes? Helllllp. Thanks! Stuart Rau www.matgri.com

    Hi studocta,

I have checked your account and so far, you have registered only 1 license for VE PRO 5, and 1 license for Epic Orchestra (in december 2012).

You have reveived 3 serial numbers for VE PRO, either in a serial number certificate or, if you purchased the boxed version, on the bottom of the cardboard-box.

Register the remaining 2 serial numbers here, you will receive the Activation Codes to download the license right away.

    Paul

  • I only received 1 serial number for VE Pro - License: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX - from my original email from Sweetwater when I purchased the software. I can forward that email if you need to see it, but please send or resend the remaining 2 serial numbers to this email - studocta@gmail.com Thanks, Stuart Rau www.matgri.com

Edit by Moderator: Please don't post serial numbers in public - thanks for your unsterstanding. In case you haven't done so already, please get in contact with . Thanks!
