How to open/connect Vienna Ensemble Pro 5 in Pro Tools 8.0.5 LE ??
Hi! I just bought Vienna Ensemble Pro 5 to allow playing VST and save some CPU usage in Pro Tools 8. I read the manual section about Pro Tools. But here is the problem : I open "Vienna Ensemble Pro RTAS" in a instruments track plugin insert. I click on connect but no server appear in the list. Or Vienna ensemble software do not open by itself (As said it is supposed to do in the manual.) Also another strange thing, I have a Avid MBOX 3 (with windows 7 64 bits.) and seem like I can only open Pro Tools or Ensemble Pro 5 at a time. Not together at the same time. If I open Pro Tools then open Vienna Ensemble Pro a Audio Engine Error message appear : Could not start audio device ASIO: AVID Mbox ASIO (64-bit) (No hardware found or already in use!). And If I open Vienna Ensemble Pro first, then open Pro Tools a error message in Pro Tools appear : Unable to locate Digidesign Hardware etc... So what do I need to do to make it work, so I can play VST intrument in Pro Tools?

Hello,
You must open "Vienna Ensemble Pro Server" (to use 32bits VST plugins) and/or "Vienna Ensemble Pro Server (64-bits)" (to use 64bits VST plugins). Both servers can be opened at the same time (you will connect to either one or the other, but you can create many instances of plugin inside your Pro Tools session).
About the manual, I think you misunderstand something. The server doesn't launch by itself when you create an RTAS plug-in instance. The servers need to be launch on each machine on the network (or localhost). But after, that when you connect to one server, the Vienna Ensemble Pro main interface will open automatically.
I suggest you to put a shortcut in your windows Toolbar to easily accces to the 2 VEP server applications, or to copy shortcuts in the Windows Startup Menu so that VEP servers will launch automatically when you login.
NB : Vienna Ensemble Pro is the standalone application that needs a soundboard to run. And Pro Tools LE doesn't allow sharing its interface when opened. But you don't need to open VEP as a standalone.

there is something there that, since I'm unclear on it, others may be as well:
both servers can be connected to and running as well.@demozic said:

Thank you for your reply ! I understand a bit more. But I'm having a hard time finding the VEP server applications I navigate to "C:\Program Files\Vienna Ensemble Pro" and all I see is : "Vienna Ensemble Pro x64" or "Vienna Ensemble Pro" I think thoses are the standalone application. Where do I find the VEP server applications ? Is it a different application that I have to download on the website? Thank you again for your time :)

Hi Sebdj,
A common misunderstanding amongst Apple users with slave PCs...
Please click "Start" in the lower left corner of your Windows screen => click "All Programs" => "Vienna Ensemble PRO" and you´ll see the servers.
Best,
