  • Vienna Ensemble Pro 5

Hi, Just joined here for some info on the audio over LAN - I'm sort of here by accident as I was looking into this with respect to syncing PC's etc.... I got the FX Teleport which works well enough for the limited time I've tried it and its free now so that's not cost anything. I use the Creamware/Sonic Core audio cards and this was brought up on the forum over there. I'm really excited about this as it could really make matters a lot easier if it works well that is. There are too many questions but I will ask is Vienna Ensemble Pro 5 the only software of yours to work with the audio over LAN? = look forward to hearing from you in a while, thanks. ADD: MIDI and audio over LAN Please will some users of these products hop in and explain a little about how it works for you.

  • System requirements for Ensemble Pro 5 are Windows 7 and above- Is there anyone using it with XP? - I've got some other software that works on XP! that isn't officially supported. Its just for two PC's on XP - there are one or two with Windows 7 and 8 on.....

  • Yes well there doesn't seem to be anybody around to answer---- In did read somewhere else on another forum that VEP5 will work on XP - btw...there was a problem ordering online---also two Vienna keys were added to the order (like the Steinberg one) but the order wouldn't go through......a glitch?

  • Since some versions VE Pro 5 will not work on XP any longer, though I don't exclude that it is possible to get it to work. XP is a 12 year old operating system, so my advise would be to upgrade your systems.

As far as the workings of VE Pro 5 are concerned, I recommend that you check out the VE Pro 5 videos at http://www.vsl.co.at/en/211/497/1685/1990/1999/1688.htm. They give a good overview.

  • OK Karel I hear you. I'll keep the XP PC's as they are but may get another PC in x time that's more suitable... What about the USB licenser - obviously this goes on the master PC like Arturia or Steinberg but what about the slave PC's??? - Is it necessary to have a USB stick/Vienna key even on the slaved PC's

  • It is necessary to have an eLicenser dongle on every system that runs the VE Pro Server (or standalone) application, so every slave, local or networked. The VE Pro plugin does not need an eLicenser dongle. In practice this means that you can have one master and three slaves, one of which can be the same system as the master, for each purchase of VE Pro, since VE Pro comes with three licenses. You do have to purchase the physical eLicenser dongle(s) separately.

  • Hi...I would like to have that set up.. One master with just a plugin (in Pro tools) and 3 slaves with pro servers and dongles. But how can one install just the pro tools plug in without using up one of the three licenses?

Plug one of the dongles in temporarily to get everything installed and set up in Pro Tools. Once that's done transfer the dongle to your slave.
