how to switch the articulations on one track without external keyboard (cubase elements 6 / vi ...
i don't want to record a new noteline playing on a Keyboard, but i've got the notes already on a track, which i want now to add with different articulations (staccato, legato...) as i understood, this is possible using the keyswitch on the Keyboard while playing (and recording). but when the notes are recorded already all i found out is, to select one articulation for one miditrack and another one for a second track and so on. so, i could copy the notes, put them into different tracks and for example on the track, where i selected staccato-articulation, i leave only the notes, i want to have played in staccato, and all other notes i delete or mute. and the same way i would do for the "legato-notes", for "pizzicato-notes" and so on. but this is very complicated and it is said on vsl-homepage, that you can manage this on only one single track. but how? thank you for helping!

Copying your notes to access different articulations is clunky and will lead to confusion. The Vienna Instrument was primarily designed to switch between articulations on a single MIDI track, that's its strength. You should create a simple matrix containing the articulations you need and then switch between them using keyswitches, or some other kind of MIDI controller - to find out how, read the manual or check out the tutorials on this site. To keep things simple, I suggest you experiment switching between just two cells, A1 and A2. (Drag the lower right hand edge of cell A1 to add more cells.)
To insert a keyswitch in an existing sequence without recording in real time, open up your sequencer's 'event list' or graphical editor, copy and paste a note, change its pitch to the correct keyswitch note (usually a very low note below the instrument's play range) and then drag it to the right place (i.e., a few ticks before the desired articulation change) in your sequence. Alternatlvely, learn how to do the same procedure using a MIDI CC command. Ultimately you'll probably find that recording the articulation changes along with the notes in real time will greatly speed up your workflow, but it's OK to start out this way!
For articulation changes to work, your simple matrix needs to have a MIDI controller assigned to its X-Axis in order to switch between cell A1 and cell A2. When you first load an empty Vienna Instruments player, the X-Axis control (situated underneath under 'Matrix Control') will say 'None' - change that to 'Keyswitch' and you can start experimenting! Good luck - if you get stuck, post a query here and I'm sure someone will help.

thanks a lot! i even wasn't sure, if somebody would exactly understand, what my question really is about. but this really sounds like a good explanation for my problem. i'll try out tonight.
