Hi and yes I'm a new user to VEP5. I'm clearly missing a basic step in the connection process here. What makes it really confusing is I have a PT11 session that is a few days old, that I did get to connect to the VEP5 Server, set it up, saved the session, and it still recalls and connects just fine! My problem comes when trying to set up a new connection in a new session. I simply get no "Available instances" to connect to. 1) No slave machine here, just VEP Server apps on the same machine as PT11 is running on. 2) I've tried launching both the 64-bit & 32-bit server apps, though I see that the 64-bit one is the one that connects perfectly to the older session. Does it matter what TYPE of track I put Vienna Ensemble Pro on, in PT? I've tried auxes, instruments, audio tracks.... I could go on for a bit with all the stuff I've tried, but here's a short movie that may reveal to knowing eyes whatever I'm missing. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/367778/Misc/VEP5Connect.mov Thanks for any tips!!

[SOLVED] Newbie server connection question
-
Thanks, yes I've been referring to that video as well as others. None of them so far explain what I was running into, but I did find the problem. It's really dumb on my part to have missed this, but somewhere along the way I disabled, in the server app prefs, the option to "Advertise on the local network". So it wasn't showing up, or being broadcast to the plug-in. However I assume the connection is still there and that's why the older session could still connect. I just couldn't see the server to establish a new connection automatically.
