Have you used VST/Set Folder to select the folder you want?  Overature 4.1/VSTDevices is just for the XML files.

Oh wait, you're loading the 32 bit in Overature, but it connects to the 64bit VE Pro.  That's the way it's supposed to work.

Again. I'd set the Overture/Set Folder to the folder name where the dll's are. I didn't set it to the VSTdevices name where the XML files are!

    I don't have VE-Pro!!!

  • Hello Raymond!

The 32-bit version of the Vienna Ensemble plugin (aka Vienna Ensemble Service Interface) can connect to the 64-bit version of the Vienna Ensemble Service. So everything's ok. If you want to use the 32-bit Service, load Vienna Ensemble Service (the normal one and not the 64-bit one) before launching Overture and the plugin will connect to the 32-bit Service.

    Best regards,
    Andi

Thank you for the answer. But it doesn't work. I downloaded the latest version of eLicenser as suggested in one of the error windows, but still it comes back that I have to have VE-pro. See pictures:

when clicking on OK this message comes a second time and the third time I do this it says:

    Sorry, I'd wished different, but......

    Raymond

  • Hello Raymond!

The second message says that it "could not find a license for Vienna Ensemble Pro". Do you have VE Pro installed on your computer? If yes, it might help to uninstall it. Since you have written that you have copied or moved .dll files, it also might be nexessary to look for remaining files called "Vienna Ensemble Pro.dll" and "Vienna Ensemble Pro x64.dll" on your computer and delete them.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Hi Andi,

As I said in my reply to Bill earlier, I don't have VE Pro, I didn't buy this, I only have Vienna Ensemble with Special edition Strings 1 + - 1Plus. So there is nothing to uninstall, delete, or whatever.

By the way, I copied the dll's from the original installation location(s) to the folder designated for Overture (thus not moved).

  • Good morning,

Last night I did a file search for all elements containing: Vienna Ensemble Pro and found some files in the users/documents area. On this mondaymorning I uninstalled all Vienna elements and re-installed them again. Just to find out if something went wrong at the first installation. I am sorry, but the error persists. It keeps telling me that I don't have a license for Vienna Ensemble Pro, which I don't have.

  • I did all you said and the error is still there.

I told you already that I did a search for any ..PRO components. I deleted them yesterday, but none of them were .dll files.

Copying dll files to another location can't harm the system. I do that all the time, getting all .dll's for music making in one place. It is very common and I never encountered any problems since 2006 when I started with computer aided composing. This would be the first time ever. Isn't there a chance that your installation program of Vienna Instruments, which also installs Vienna Ensemble secretely installs Ensemble PRO but blocking it due to not having a license for it?

The only thing I want is a 32-bits version of Vienna Ensemble (not PRO) in Overture and somehow your company cannot deliver it. Pity.

    Raymond

  • I sometimes get that error when I have opened things in the wrong order...

In any case, you don't want to get rid of the 64bit versions; you want to be sure to install them in a different place.  The VSL installation promps you for two loacation.

In use, you want to start the 64bit VE server (assuming you have a 64bit OS), then connect to it from Overture with the 32bit client.  This is what allows you to make use of all your computer memory.

    Sorry Bill,

I installed the both versions in different places. For the rest of your reply, I don't understand it.

  • I had a lively conversation with Mr. Andreas and both he and I decided that this issue is very strange and weird. Never happened before. The only conclusion is, we both agreed, stopping this thread. It is just one of the very mysteries of computersystems.

    Greetings,

    Raymond

  • Nevertheless we were able to sort out the 64-bit Vienna Ensemble questions and Raymond can now use VE 64-bit with Overture.
