  • While Herb will answer the questions concerning patches used, I'll gladly give you the technical details:

The single tracks were bounced to continous files, transferred to ProT**ls, from where I had 12 stereo-outputs to an analogue console (Neve VR). I used two engines from a Lexicon L960, one as my main reverb, one with a more "roomy" slap-back mainly for the horns. Both engines got their input from the stereo-AUXes of the single channels. (Personally I felt that it was much harder to achieve a convincing result than with an SRev-1 or even the AltiVerb.)

Panning was achieved on behalf of 12 Waves S1 inside ProT**ls (the analogue channels remained hard left/right). Some EQing was used from the console, especially for the high mids. For compression, I used two linked LA2As for the Horns, a dbx160s for the Tympani, and apart from that only the channel-dynamics of the Neve. The stereo-bus was routed via a Manley Variable Mu and an Avalon Master-EQ (which number I'm not able to remember) to the LakePeople DA. I recorded 24 bit interleaved to my mobile Nuendo-System.

In a word - a production radically different from most of our older demos. ;-]

  • Very nice work Herbert! I really like this and (especially) your Blaue Donau demo.

  • This is an excellent performance and also a great job of arranging the themes of the first movement. I also liked very much the Blue Danube - it made me wish you would do the whole waltz. I also wish there was a virtual symphony orchestra record label that would present new performances of classical pieces as well as original compositions in the medium.

  • Thanks a lot for the compliments.

I always have mixed feelings in reprogramming standards of the classical repertoire. It's more an analytic than a creativ work. But you can learn a lot.
It's always fascinating to see, how accurate each single note in a masterpiece is.

  • Very nice work Herb! The mix sounds fantastic as well Dietz [:D]

  • Thanks a lot, Damon! Good to know that someone cares.
