Hi all at VSL,
First congrats on a great product. I'm new to VSL, got the Dimension Strings package and VI Pro, and was even better than expected.
I just have one issue, maybe there's something I'm missing. When I start from blank, and try to load Group 1 and Group 2 into two matrixes in VI Pro (AAX version), it loads samples to 79%, then crashes ProTools. Is this a memory issue?
Some info if it helps:
Late 2011 13" Macbook Pro 2.8Ghz
8Gb RAM
Pro Tools 10.3.5
I've installed the Dimension String samples onto an 'Elgato Thunderbolt SSD', the same drive that I'm recording audio onto.
Pro Tools and VI Pro are running off my system drive (standard issue 5400rpm admittedly).
Would really love to get the most out of this. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Sam

Hi Sam,
That sounds like you are overloading your RAM, as PT is still a 32 bit host.
You should use Vienna Ensemble 64 bit (outside of Pro Tools, that will give you the "unlimited" 64 bit capacity, simply start the "Vienna Ensemble Server (64 bit" manually in case the 32 bit Service starts by default).
Additionally, as you are using VI PRO, you should lower the Preload Buffer size in the Directory Manager, this way you can load up to 10 times more samples into your existing RAM (and up to 10 times faster).
Best,
Paul
