I'm sure I'm doing something wrong here so I'd love if someone could shed some light for me. I'm testing out Vienna MIR (WOW this might be one of my favorite plugins) and it seems like there are issues whenever I use it. Usually the very first instrument or two where I add MIR load just fine, no hiccups or glitches. After that, however, I'll get some instruments that say Plugin Disabled and the error description is a channel mismatch. This also happens when reopening a saved file with MIR being used. Usually when I reopen a saved file, a bunch of instruments won't be loaded in the main MIR window and I'll see that Plugin Disabled message in the individual instrument tracks, but when I navigate away from the MIR instance with an error message and then come back to it, it's usually loaded like normal. Unfortunately by that point the main MIR window has forgotten the instrument's placement and all of its details. I know this might sound confusing so please let me know if there's anything I can clarify. I'm using Reaper in Windows 7 64-bit, and I'm mixing in 32-bit. Thanks for any assistance!

[SOLVED] MIR Issue with Reaper
-
Hi Casiquire,
I have to admit that my first-hand experience with Reaper is quite limited. The error message "channel mismatch" should only appear when the channel number of the host and the plug-in isn't the same. It could also be that Reaper is messing up something inside the plug-in's data when recalling it.
Any chance for testing MIR Pro with another host, just to be sure that there isn't anything else that causes this issue ...?
Kind regards,

Are you using MIR as a standalone plugin or inside VE or VEPro? I use Reaper on occasion and can't say I have the same problems but I may not be using it the same way you are. More information would help and maybe I could try to reproduce what you're talking about.

There is indeed an issue that is caused by a strange initialization routine from Reaper. It first tries to initialize the plugins in an 8ch configuration, then switching to a stereo configuration. As Dietz mentioned, the MIR Pro plugin depends on having matching channel configurations for every plugin. We will investigate this behavior and see if anything can be done on our side.

Sorry to be a bother--I just downloaded the newest version of MIR Pro 24 and I'm still having an issue. I get that same "Plugin Disabled" screen, but when I toggle the GUI everything comes up working correctly.
One other issue I'm having in Reaper is that loading about the second or third MIR instance into my project tends to crash Reaper. It can load many instances, and it doesn't spike my CPU or RAM, it just occasionally crashes on loading the second or third instance. This happens even when loading a saved project with several instances of MIR. After a couple of tries it works again.
Anyway none of this is a pressing issue, just wanted to see if it could be resolved or if there's something I'm doing wrong. Thank you!

I'm exploring the possibility of a background program causing the crashing in MIR Pro, because there may be a connection there. I'm still experiencing the Reaper glitch causing me to need to disable and then re-enable MIR Pro.
So far even with these little errors MIR is incredibly inspiring to me and I want to express my thanks for making such an incredible product that, coupled with VSL, makes for an unprecedented combination that I don't think anybody will be able to match for a long time.

I've tried just about everything now, Vienna MIR just doesn't open correctly in Reaper, ever. I've even tried running everything through Vienna Ensemble but the problem actually seems worse that way--I get a nasty error popup, then MIR twitches a couple of times, then comes up with an empty stage. Vienna Ensemble, meanwhile, doesn't seem to realize MIR had any errors and looks as though everything is properly connected.
Is any progress being made with any of these errors? Or do you need any more information from me? I'd love to be able to use MIR seamlessly! Thanks.
