  • So Confused about Packages and Upgrade Paths

I am so confused about packages and upgrade paths. Is there are reason why it would be impossible for a comparison chart to be created which showed each product and its subcomponents? And a second chart which showed the upgrade paths more effectively than is the case at http://www.vsl.co.at/en/211/1343/1346/961.vsl? In the hope of sorting out my confusion, I want to ask three questions: 1. Has anyone found a good starting place or even external article for understanding the packages and upgrade paths within the Vienna system? 2. Are there any choices you can make initially which can result in your paying extra in the long run if you were to end up with every Vienna sample there was to buy? 3. A related question to the one above - are there instrument collections which don't have an upgrade path? For example, if I bought a standard or full version of the Symphonic Cube would it be more expensive to upgrade later to the Super Package than if I had bought the Super Package at the start? Thanks for any help. Philip

  • From my experience, it pays off to buy things in as large a bunch as possible. So if you buy Winds Complete, it will cost less than starting with the Special Edition, then upgrading to the SE+, then upgrading to the Woodwinds Bundles, then upgrading to Winds Complete. I'd suggest skipping right over the Special Editions if you can afford it, because the extra articulations, even in Standard Libraries, are more than worth it and it will save you the money of getting an SE then upgrading. For example, on the Symphonic Cube page, check out the line that says "Bundle Savings". You save almost a thousand pounds on the software by buying the whole Cube rather than buying individual collections. The number would be much higher if you started with SE or Single Instruments. Of course there will be some instances where you only need a few instruments and it's cheaper to by them as Single Instruments, or if you have a lot of brass and just want some extra sounds then Brass SE might be a good choice, but if your long-term goal is to get everything, start out just buying everything together as a group. One place where you really don't lose money is by buying Standard Libraries and then upgrading to Full.
