  • Vienna Ensemble not opening up in Sibelius

    Hi to the forum,

I have updated my vi pro player and vienna ensemble, but for some reason, when I load a Sibelius 6 project, Vienna Ensemble not showing up now and loading up with samples. If does appear in the Player devices menu though.

When I click on the devices in the sibelius player devices, as I mentioned, it shows up there, but the actual ensemble is not loading up. When I click on the device page on the "Show" button, there, on the Vienna Ensemble Interface, there is a message saying:

    "Status: not connected (invalid version)"

When I click on it to connect on the interface I get a message saying

"Could not connect to service because the version numbers of Service interface and Service do not match"

I'm not sure what is happening. I have the latest e-licenser installed, plus the latest versions of vi pro player and vienna ensemble [the free software].

I just closed sibelius and went to see if my cubase projects would work and I got a message saying:

"Application Vienna Instruments (M6) has caused the following error: Failed to send GetInfo command"

    Options: -click <Ok> to abort"

The good news though, was that Cubase played back my file without any problems.

I'm not sure what to do to fix the sibelius problem though. I am using the latest version of Sibelius 6.

Thanks if anyone may be able to give me some information that will help me here.

    best,

    Steve.

  • Hi,

just to update this. I rescanned my sibelius 6 vst folder to the common file folder in the 86x program files where I believe the 32 bit versions of the dll files reside [am I correct here?], and this time, Vienna Ensemble did appear, but some of my matrixes - some of the strings, were missing samples.

Also, got a message that my elicenser stopped working also - so I am wondering whether the two things were connected somehow.

I then did a rescan of where the orignal vst plug ins that I used in Sibelius were that I was using before, and then opened up a project, and the same thing happened as before, in that the ensemble player did not show up and load the samples.

I just thought I would share that extra info to see if this will help.

    thanks,

    Steve.

  • Hi again,

well, good news, I managed to solve this by going into my recycle bin and restoring all my .dll files that I had taken out so I only had the latest .dll files and setting my folder to the 86x program files. I have thought about why this has fixed things, but I'm not too sure, but, everything is going back to normal now, which is great.

    best,

    Steve[:)]

  • Hello Steve!

I'm glad to read that you were able to solve your problem in the meantime. As a general rule I recommend never deleting, moving or copying our plugin (*.dll) files. This can cause problems like the one you had. Instead uninstall them, reinstall them or change the plugin folders in your host software.

    Best regards,
    Andi
