I have the demo versions of VE Pro and MIR Pro.  It does work with Finale although I haven't tried using it yet with a large orchestration. 

My only question so far is if I chose to use it (MIR PRO) as a standalone plugin is VE Pro still required?  So far my testing indicates that it is.  As a standalone plugin in an aux bus only one instrument shows up and I don't see a way to map other instruments to the plugin.

VE Pro is not required to use MIR Pro with Finale, but I would recommend it for scores with more than 8 instruments. As Finale has only 8 slots for virtual instruments, you can add only eight instruments (or 8 groups of instruments) to MIR Pro standalone. With VE Pro and the VE Pro Event input you can add up to 8x16 instruments to MIR Pro in Finale.

I see.  Thanks for that Andi.  I guess I don't quite understand how instruments get routed to MIR as a standalone plug.  No matter where I insert the effect in Finale I only see one instrument.

Each MIR Pro plugin represents a single instrument on the venue, so that behavior is to be expected.

Oh ok.  Sooooo no stage position control for each instrument if you use it as a standalone plug then correct?  Each single instrument could represent a section of the orchestra if you mapped it out that way.

Ok ok.  I figured it out as a standalone with regular VE and VI.  It's VERY cool and achieves the "mix" I've always wanted but still working in notation software.  I haven't loaded a full orchestra yet but have a full brass section and string section and my machine isn't struggling in the least.  This really is something special at least as far as I'm concerned.  Nothing left but to save some money............

sorry to keep replying to my own post, but one more question.  As I said I got a demo license for MIR Pro and I see there's a seperate license for MIR Pro 24.  When I installed MIR Pro, did MIR Pro 24 also get installed?  If I go to the software download it appears they are together and I didn't see a seperate installer for the smaller version.

So I got an activation code for MIR Pro24 last night but don't see a seperate application.  If I hadn't licensed MIR Pro would I simply be limited to 24 instruments then? 

Secondly if I had MIR Pro24 and I had say an orchestra score with 30 or so players/ensembles, would a second instance of MIR open or would I simply be out of luck for the remaining 6 players?  I guess this is something I'd like to test because I would think a second instance would be more taxing on my system than all the instruments in a single instance. 

I think that's all the questions I'll have :)

As written in my last post. It's the same software. There's no separate application for MIR Pro 24. [;)] The only limitation of the MIR Pro 24 license is, that you can only open up to 24 instruments. It's not possible to open two MIR Pro 24 standalone instances. Even if you open two MIR Pro 24 instances in two VE Pro instances you are limited to 24 instruments totally.
You could group some instruments in busses in order to get more than 24 instruments to MIR Pro 24. But of course it's not the same as having these instruments individually in MIR.
