  • yup and it rocks, I love it.  although there are a few features still missing when compared to Finale and Sibelius, it is a pleasure to use and given the way their team has been working and their dedication to us, I belive within a couple more versions there will be nothing missing.

still right now it has everything most of us would need most of the time and at 64-bit with 64-bit rewire I can use it with Ensemble pro 5 and send stems directly in logic for further mixing and processing.

    cheers

  • My impression rather than "it rocks" is that Notion 4 is a slap dash port from 32 bit to 64 bit.  There are  number of features which have regressed to broken: no articulation text for VI Pro voices so no articulation for VI PRO voices, the menuing confounds adjusting mixer levels on the fly on a one monitor setup. The additional memory in 64 bit is the one outstanding plus of the new release.

Of course, it's a new release and we expect some glitches, but the number of bugs I have seen are causing me to reconsider Sibelius, despite Avid's lack of stability and performance. Let's hope that some of the "Real Soon, Now" fixes are just that.

  • I think it's a terrific program.  It's not quite where Sibelius is as far as plug ins and print options but as a compositional tool it's amazing.

  • Believe it or not, I am a Notion fan. After two hours of trying Notion, for the first time, my copy of Sibelius 6 was in the trash can.

But as a software engineer and a consumer of notation software, I have to stand by my assesment that the release is a bit rough and shows signs of not being sufficently tested.
