    Hello Steven,

Please uninstall the installed VI Player with the included Uninstaller. Which version are you actually using?

OS X 10.4.11 needs one of our legacy versions that can be found in the software archive.

  • Paul, Thanks. I'm using the Vienna Ensemble player. I am in touch with the tech 2 ILIO. They are herlping me thru the legacy stuff, Steve

  • Should I uninstall, then reinstall the Vienna Ensemble?

  • Hi Steven,

Yes, uninstall the software with the included Uninstaller first, to be safe.

  • Sorry to bug you again Paul, FYI, Austin @ VSL tech asst has been great. I'm using Special Edition 1 PLUS on a G5, Ptools 7.3. I unzipped the instruments onto a FW drive(from a USB stick) using a friend's laptop @ OS 10.6. This was Austin's workaround for my OS 10.4.11 G5. Then I plugged the FW drive into my computer, ran the directory manager. My licenses are there just no sound. Also I'm running VE as a stereo rtas plug with I assume is what you do in OS 10.4.11. That's where it appears. Do I need to run it as a multichannel RTAS pugin? If so I'm lost til I get hold of my PTools folks at Pacific Pro Audio here in Seattle(monday). I never installed the 5.1 stuff which is where I believe the multichannel rtas lives. Thanks, Steve

  • Hello Steve,

    You unzipped the sample content??

The installation actually needs to be done with the LIBRARY INSTALLER that comes with Vienna Instruments. Please check if there are *.dat files on your firewire drive.

A G5 is of course already a very old machine. Let´s focus on the instruments first, then take it from there.

  • Hi Paul, Again thanks for your help. I believe I used the library installer correctly to unzip the files. I'll have access to that "modern" computer later today if you think I should try "reunzippiing" the sounds. The sound files on my FW drive have a "blank box" icon followed by "SE_Volume-1_Brass_01.dat". Is that correct. Thanks, Steve BTW that's Austin at ILIO in LA, not VSL. We still haven't heard anything from Vienna.

  • Paul, BTW the G5 is a 2x2.66 dualcore Intel Xeon. mem 4 GB 667 Mhz DDR2 FB-DIMM

  • Hello Steven,

Yes, Austin is from ILIO. What do you need to know from Vienna? Sundays are a bit tricky when it comes to such very special cases. But it´s monday tomorrow, so I´m sure that Austin will be back in business.

If you have *.dat files, everything should be alright, technically.

My colleague Marnix in Vienna will also be available tomorrow morning again, and I´m sure he will be of great help.

    Best,

    Paul
