  • sibelius 7 soundset strings chamber

I have problems with triggering the right string sound with the sib7 soundset chamber strings.

I have installed everything, loaded the vienna latest housestyle from needful things etc.

put the legato seems to trigger stacc, and then it won't leave staccato again. Pizz doesn't trigger pizzicato etc?

I have had one error window when loading saying that a font called "vivo" I think it is, is missing.

    Could that be the problem?

The winds and brass seems to work correctly so far.

  • Hello Karsten!

It seems you are using the old Chamber Strings sound set. I recommend using the sound set "VE Strings" instead. It can be downloaded at the following location:
    http://www.vsl.co.at/en/68/141/460/576/655.htm

Please notice that this sound set (as well as the Chamber Strings sound set) only switches articulation correctly, when you load the VI presets that came with the sound set. In order to be able to load these presets, they have to be copied to the VSL Custom Data folder first.

The missing font hast nothing to do with this problem. Don't worry about that. The font will be replaced by a default font.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • OK thanks. That was it!!

Don't know where that old one came from though.

    Thanks K

  • Now I have the same problem again with orchestral strings.

I am using the VE strings soundset. Is that correct for this it still seems to tricker oddly.

    cheers K

I think I am having troubles with understanding th following in the readme files and tutorial video:

    In Vienna Ensemble,

    insert as many

    instruments as you

    need. Set the channels

    and load the matrices

that came with your Special Edition or Special Edition PLUS. If you are using one of our bigger

collections, use the presets that came with the Sound Set. Then save your Playback configuration in

    Sibelius.

Especially "use the presets that came with the soundset"? What I am in doubt about is wether I should load the original soundsets say for instance orchestral strings when using the larger libraries and special edition, and that the loadable presets in the VE ensemble named "VE prets for sibelius" are only for the special edition. Is that the case?

    Please clarify for me.

    cheers K

  • Hi Karsten!

The sound set "VE Strings" and the VI presets that came with this sound set replaced all previous Strings sound sets (Chamber Strings, Orchestral Strings, Appassionata Strings and Solo Strings). So for new projects I recommend using the "VE Strings" sound set. The folder where the VI presets for the "VE Strings" sound set are located is called "Strings VI Presets for Sibelius" (at least if you didn't rename it yourself).

    Best,
    Andi

  • ok thanks I didn't rename it. This is what I am using.

SO: when I load a preset in my vienna ensemble window it is from the "strings VI preset for sibelius" right?

in that there are submenues called appasionata chamber orchestral etc, right?

I have made one with orchestral strings. it behaves trangely, it collects certain smaples like bartok pizz for instance, and keeps returning to that sample, even if I force it to play from another one. Some of it works and some of ti doesn't seem to work, or....?

I'm not sure what you mean. What did you make?

The "Chamber", "Orchestral" and "Appassionata" programs only work correctly, when the corresponding instruments, that are included with the "Vienna Symphonic Library" House Style (v.1.6 or higher), are used in Sibelius. If you use the normal Sibelius instruments for string ensembles (Violin 1, Violin 2, Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Violoncello, Contrabass, Double Bass), please use the "Ensemble" programs on the Manual Sound Sets page.

    I hope this helps.

  • ok I reloaded and saved again that helped.

It was like it was stuck with a sample.
