  • Midi keyboard causes crackles and pops...

Hello VSL team!  I did all the last updates for Mir Pro,  VE 5 and VI Pro yesterday...

The problem I have is I hear crackles and pops when I play with my Oxygen M-Audio midi keyboard...  I don't hear any crackles when I use the

    VI Pro 2 virtual keyboard...

I tried with my EW library and other libraries with my midi keyboard and I don't hear any problem.  It just do it with VSL libraries.  Hmm

I tried Mir Pro stand alone,   VI pro 2 stand alone,  VE server in cubase,  ect...  There are pops and crackles with all of them...

I tried :    - to connect my keyboard on different USB ports

                   - to change latency,  in cubase,  in Mir Pro,  in my VSL22 audio usb card,  ect

                   -  to change preload buffer size

...  But it still do the problem...  Can you help me with this?

    My configuration is : 3930k,  32 gb 2133,  asus p9x79 pro,  windows 7 pro.

    Thank you for your time!

    Vincent

    Hello Vincent,

Did you try with ASIO drivers? One option would be www.asio4all.com

  •  Hello Paul!

Thank you very much for your help.  It is better with Asio 4 all,  but not perfect...  I still ear smal artefacts when I'm playing rapidily with the midi keyboard...

In approximately one month I restart all my computer...  Maybe it will solve the problem.  [:S]

  • Hi Vincent,

Running MIR PRO and VE PRO and all the advanced software, you´ll definitely benefit from a good soundcard and ASIO driver.

USB audio interfaces will not make you happy on the long run, I´m afraid.

    Best,

    Paul

  •  Thank you Paul for your help!

I don't really do live recording.  Sometimes I record a singer or a musician,  one at a time...

Do you have something in mind that could solve my problem?  I guess I would need firewire interface?  Or internal PCI?  Is

there any basic model that could do it for me?

    Thank you,

    Vincent

  • Hi Vincent,

The best idea is to talk to your favourite music-store. They will tell you which hardware is best for you.

We´ll help with the software parts!

    Paul

  • I understand Paul.

But to resolve my software problem,  do I need a firewire interface?

    Thank you,

    Vincent

  • Does your soundcard have a MIDI input? Have you tried just connecting via a MIDI cable rather than through USB?

    DG

  • Hello Vincent,

You can try with a firewire interface, or with a PCI card (if you have a desktop machine).... many many many options. And your local dealer should be able to help you there!

    Best,

    Paul

  • Thank you Paul for your help!

Hello DG.  My Soundcard have a MIDI,  but my midi keyboard is USB...  [:S]

  • I never had those glitchs before.  I'll try to format my computer soon.  If it do not resolve my problem I'll buy an other card.

Thank you DG and Paul,  have a good day!
