  • Jazz drums ; the death of the drummer

    Hello VSL

I have just watch the video tutorial !! wow it's fabulous !!!!

This is the 1st time I see a drum product that could really replace a drummer, the cymbals are fabulous !

Do you think adding more instruments, more tom (up to 4), more cymballs(with nails...),  little percusions ....

    Best

  •  Yes,  I would like to see a bigger drum kit too,  the only sound library I use all the time other than VSL is BFD. It would need to go beyond the "Jazz" style though.

If VSL could do the definitive drum library, that would make BFD redundant (for me anyway), and I can go totally VSL.  Though, I think drums are a little different in their set up,  so it probably would need a dedicated player,  like Vienna Imperial is to the piano.

    Hi Andy

What do you think of the idea to EQ snare, toms and BD to make they sound more pop !

A drum is a drum !, you can play Jazz on my Ludwig Long lugs or Pop or Hard rock

The Roger drums was used by many artists in the 70th

  • I have just been using the jazz drums in cubase. I haven't heard ANY other drum sampler that sounds better than this, the sound reproduced with these samples using any drum midi file is spectacularly detailed. Highly recommended !

The problem with a Jazz kit, is that they tend not to have many drums, I would like to see lots of toms (8" to Floor toms),  but if the player engine allowed greater tuning range, that would give greater flexibilty on not needing so many snare samples for example.

Although a bass drum can sound similar what ever make it is, different skin tension and sizes probably make a bigger difference, so one sample cannot really do all - especially without being able to tune it very far, but I agree that one drum kit type could do all.

What I would not want in a drum library, is multiple mic positions and bleed through of other instruments, somthing which I know is not the way VSL do things. So a VSL drum library could be the ultimate drum library for me (if it ever makes the planning stage)
