  • Offline mixdown doesn't work using MIR Pro. [SOLVED]

I can't believe that I've never run into this before, as normally i do real time mixdowns. For some reason when I do a non real-time mixdown all the MIR Pro instruments are excluded from the mix. Click the real time button in Nuendo and they are there. Is this normal?

A quick thought; could this be related to the fact that I'm using audio input to Mir Pro?

  • That's definitely not normal, but you can most likely avoid it by setting the MIR latency to a non-zero value. A value that is greater than your audio buffer size will give you the best performance.

Aha, I'll try that. I always work with 0, but maybe I just need to raise it for mixdown.

    Yes. [:D]

    Edit: No. [:(]

  • DG,

    Zero preferred when possible.

What number above zero allowed success?

Upon raising MIR's latency, did you notice any negative audible difference? No matter how small.

The audio produced will be identical regardless of latency setting.

  • Actually I've just gone back to the project that was a problem, and the problem was still there. My other projects don't exhibit this issue. However, I can't export this project with any combination of buffer/MIR latency setting, unless I do it in real time. Unfortunately I can't do it in real time, because some of the plugs are causing glitches. So I'm going to have to export stems as 32bit float, MIR instruments in real time and then combine them, with the Master Bus processing for a final export.

This is not a good way to work, and if I can't figure it out, then MIR is not going to be part of my set-up, unfortunately.

Martin, could this be anything to do with the fact that I'm using the audio input feature of MIR?

  • This indeed sounds more likely. I guess you're using the Audio Input plugins for every MIR Pro channel, making it seem like it's a MIR Pro problem. Are your other (working) projects not using the Audio Input plugin?

Yes, I always use audio input, because none of the instruments are VSL and most are, er, audio...! Everything is working apart from mixdown with MIR Pro. It also seems only to be this one project. The others, which also use audio input work, now that I've changed the latency. Just one more thing; I am using the audio input plug pre-fader, if that makes a difference.

  •  OK, I think I've solved it. The tracks in question had no output bus, and even though they didn't need one, and played back as expected, on mixdown for some reason this caused them not to be included. It doesn't make sense to me, but it's what happens.

Sorry for wasting everyone's time. Move along please. Nothing to see. I hope...! [:P]

  • Some care needs to be taken to make sure that both the Audio/Event Input plugins and the main Server Interface plugin are being processed or there will indeed be no audio. Glad to hear it's resolved.

I have a similar problem, trying to do an offline mix in Cubase 7.04.  Cubase is on a mac, and VEP servers are on the mac and 3 pc slaves, one of which also hosts MIR Pro.  The only channels that end up included in the offline mix are from the instruments (all VI Pro) hosted in VE Pro on the MIR machine.  The instruments in the servers on the mac and the 2 other slaves do not get recorded, unless it's a realtime bounce, which includes some nice crackles, and is unusable.  I have tried routing those VST instruments to physical outputs as mentioned above, and have set MIR's latency at 1024, with Cubase's at 512.  So, how do I get the Audio/Event input channels included in an offline mix?

    Thanks for any help,

    Hi Jon,

this seems to be a VE Pro related problem rather than a MIR issue. I think re-posting that issue in our dedicated VE Pro sub-forum (or even better: sending a mail to ) will make your message more visible than attaching it to a "Solved" thread. 😊

    Kind regards,
