Hello everyone,
I own a macbook pro and recently bought a computer to carry all my sample libraries and to use the VEP Server. However, I don't know the specifics to connect the two computers.
What do I need to connect the two computers?
Thanks in advance

How to Setup a Gigabit Lan Ethernet between two computers?

If someone could be more specific in terms of hardware and such by giving some examples, it would be a tremendous help! Thank you

An Ethernet cable. [;)]

Hey DG, thanks for your reply. Is an ethernet cable really enough? I read somewhere that you would need a connection of 10/100/1000 and a gigabit switch.

I'm not really aware of what is needed, I'm starting to create my setup for the first time. But I'd like to ask, is an ethernet cable enough for transfering 10+ gb of samples through vep?

Just checked, both my computers have gigabit ethernet connections. I tried to use an old ethernet cable, but it didn't work. I googled and found this website about the several distinctions of ethernet cables. http://www.howtogeek.com/70494/what-kind-of-ethernet-cat-5e6a-cable-should-i-use/

Just been through the same thing here... (except I'm hooking up two Macs). I opted for a Cat6 cable (probably paid too much for it but trust the brand: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812107731 ). Working well this end so far. Didn't really have anything Networky to set up.
